Here’s what stood out to me from Chapter 5 of Chasing Daylight by Erwin McManus…
- Divine moments require us to move from the invisible to the visible so that the invisible can become visible.
- Its about volunteering when God is asking, “Who will go on my behalf?”
- It is so much easier to choose to be invisible. Oh, there are other words for ‘invisible’ – average, mediocre, normal, compliant, predictable, safe – and the list could go on and on.
- The most important decisions of our lives will require us to forsake invisibility and risk becoming visible. Whenever you choose to seize divine moments, you move from invisibility to visibility.
- Some moments carry within them the capacity to shape a lifetime…The greater that moment’s opportunity, the greater the risk required.
- The moment in which we have the most to gain is also the moment we have the most to surrender…the greatest opportunities require the highest risk.
- Women and men who seize divine moments embrace the inherent dangers that come with them. Divine moments oftentimes require us to put our own well-being aside for the well-being of others, to relinquish our safe places for the sake of others.
- It requires us to move from the isolation of our invisibility to the dangers of visibility if we are going to make the invisible visible.
- Our action invokes God’s activity. It is as if God is waiting for someone to trust Him enough to act on His Word.
- (Philippians 4:8-9, 12-13) Do you hear what He’s telling us? Think any God thoughts you want; do any God deeds you desire to do. Do it boldly. Whatever the cost. Circumstances cannot rob you of the joy of life.

Nick,
I finished this chapter just now. And even though it really was a quick read it hit the core. It has made me sit back and ask questions. I find that so often I am independent that I miss out many things in life.; my life is compliant, reliable and I am sitting in a comfort zone. But in all areas of life, regardless of your beliefs, I truly believe that unless you are willing to go out on a ledge without a safety net then you never truly live. Life means taking risks. More need to learn to do it.

You’re a fast reader…you said give you two days 🙂
I am itching to work on my July message because of this. A lot of my thoughts were surrounding a lot of what he was talking about in this chapter, minus the “divine moments” aspect.
I do not believe one can truly call themselves a Christian unless they are willing to embrace the attributes of the cross, “take up our cross and die daily” –
There are many positive attributes to the cross, and that is the only thing our western pop culture religion focuses on, they don’t focus on the “risk” the “danger” the “unknown” and “unseen” and my heart has been heavy with this a lot lately.
I have to stop there, you will have to be there to hear the rest of the message 🙂

“Our action invokes God’s activity.” Isn’t that the way it is!? I can’t count the number of times I’ve wanted something to happen and have just expected God to make it happen. But when I trust Him and move on and do it, He shows up in incredible ways!
Thanks for this Nick!
