I know people will disagree with me. I kind of count on it, especially after seeing the highly emotional, opinionated Facebook posts over the last 24 hours. Many of those posts have been by people I greatly respect. Don’t worry though, it won’t be the first time someone has disagreed with me. The good news is, I still respect those who I disagree with. Maybe they’ll return the favor!
I’m not jumping on the Outrage Train against Chick-Fil-A. I know, I know, I should, after all, they CAVED to the cultural pressures and the protestors that have hounded them for over 7-years, after the founder’s son, and company COO, Dan Cathy, made public comments supporting traditional, Biblically defined marriage. But, did they cave, really? If they caved, why did they wait 7-years to do so? Why not cave immediately, in the hottest part of the controversy? Why not cave two-or-three years after the protests began, especially once it was well known that the hate wasn’t going to stop?
Or, could Chick-Fil-A be telling the truth, when they claim that they are simply refocusing their charitable giving to three specific areas? And their support for the Salvation Army and FCA was not cancelled, but instead their long-term contracts had expired and they chose not to renew with those two specific organizations? Their tax statements show they had already given north of one million dollars to FCA and nearly $200,000 to the Salvation Army. But, I know what you’re thinking! “You mean, you want me to trust and give the benefit of the doubt to THE company that is known for being founded on Christian principles?” “The company that has weathered the protests and the hate for 7+ years?” “The company that still closes on Sunday (worldwide), even at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium, in Atlanta, despite the huge financial loss to the company?” “What has Chick-Fil-A ever done that would lead us to do that?” Either character and reputation matter, or they don’t. Based on social media posts in the past 24-hours, I’m beginning to believe it is a lost value in our world.
EMOTIONS RULE THE DAY| HYPOCRISY AND DOUBLE STANDARDS
It’s interesting that my fellow conservative and Christian friends who have spent the last two years relabeling the news media as the, “lame stream media” and “fake news” would immediately jump to conclusions based on news headlines and media narratives. The same media organizations that have been accused of posting dishonest news about President Trump, Brett Kavanaugh, and other conservatives are going to determine the narrative for you when it comes to Chick-Fil-A?
Some of my friends and acquaintances are simultaneously posting articles and videos about the presidential impeachment hearings, saying everything is hearsay, lies, and made up reports, all the while parroting the same media when it comes to Chick-Fil-A. We want the facts to speak for the impeachment hearing, so why not for Chick-Fil-A?
Here are the facts, that we know:
- No one from Chick-Fil-A has said they are pulling support from groups that support traditional marriage, and/or are anti-LGBTQ+
- The media and opinion “journalist” from both liberal and conservative leaning media have created the narrative that they have pulled their support for groups that are anti-LGBTQ+ Those media groups wrote the narrative for you.
- MOST of you had no idea these were two of the charity groups that Chick-Fil-A supported, until the news media told you, yesterday.
- Chick-Fil-A has not said that it will not support other groups, in the future that support traditional marriage or that the media labels as anti-LGBTQ+
- The media has wrongly labeled The Salvation Army as anti-LGBTQ+ and according to their own statement, they reject this label as well, offering services to anyone and everyone. This is 100% true. I worked there and had gay men participate in our CSRC Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program. When I left, the shelter was creating ways to ensure transgender clients had safe sheltering within their emergency shelter. We served clients with HIV/AIDS, without discrimination. Individuals from all walks of life and all identifications were served through the Salvation Army’s programs. The media nor the Salvation Army can factually claim that’s the reason Chick-Fil-A reallocated their charitable funds.
- All outrage is based solely on speculation about Chick-Fil-A’s motives versus verifiable facts.
DECEIVE, DIVIDE, AND CONQUER
We know that Satan’s first attack on God’s people was deception. He’s the master of twisting the truth into a lie. Do you know for a fact that the whole narrative against Chick-Fil-A was not an opportunistic attempt to finally cut the company down to its knees? Are you sure that as soon as the report was released about Chick-Fil-A’s changes in their charitable giving goals that the company’s enemies didn’t take the opportunity to divide their customer base against them?
It is plausible, based on the history of some media, and other advocates, that the report was released about Chick-Fil-A not renewing an expired contract with the Salvation Army and FCA, and the narrative was created that they were cutting ties with anti-LGBTQ+ groups. As the old saying goes, if you can’t beat them (with protests and boycotts), turn their supporters against them. Once again, Chick-Fil-A never gave this narrative as their reason for making changes to their support. They didn’t imply those reasons, or announce changes in their company values. So, who told you that? Some media organizations. Opinion journalists. And guess what, you bought it! You didn’t practice being quick to listen and slow to anger. You didn’t pause and wait to hear from the company that has earned the benefit of the doubt. You didn’t hold back your outrage until you read an official statement from the company that has a strong character. You based your opinion on what someone told you to believe about a reputable company. Is that the same methods you would want others to take when your character and motives come into question?
To date, nothing has worked to hurt Chick-Fil-A from the outrage mob…not this outrage mob, but the other one. So, why not divide and conquer? If that was their goal, they can consider themselves successful.
It’s the same attack I have heard conservatives claim the media uses against President Trump. If they can’t beat him, separate his supporters from him. Some of the same people who have made this claim and stand with iron clad support of President Trump, no matter what he does, now do the very opposite with Chick-Fil-A. Whose character should be questioned? Chick-Fil-A’s or theirs? Or, maybe yours?
SACRED COWS
What my fellow Christians and conservatives are saying is: Because the LGBTQ+ advocates don’t like specific organizations, and Chick-Fil-A has supported those organizations in the past, they are obligated to forever support those organizations, or they have caved to social and cultural pressures. Even though they supported them for several years, in total of over one million dollars.
At what point is Chick-Fil-A, a private owned company, allowed to refocus or reallocate their charitable donations, and not be considered caving? What’s your approved timeframe? Are they required to support those specific organizations indefinitely? I love when my freedom loving American citizens will question people trying to trample on their rights by asking, “Who are you to tell me how many and what kind of guns I can own?” “Who are you to tell me what I can and cannot say?” I love it! Well, who are you to say what charitable organizations Chick-Fil-A has to indefinitely support?
Maybe it shouldn’t come as a surprise that this mindset is coming from a lot of Christians. After all, it’s this very mindset that has many churches on the brink of death: “We’ve always done it that way!” “We’ve always had this program!” The minute a pastor or church leader sacrifices a sacred cow for the sake of church health or greater effectiveness in spiritual growth, they are accused of compromising and all sorts of other false motives.
- I remember having to suspend a missions project where our church provided meals for under resourced children in our local area, through the public school system. It was a good program, but the ever increasing funds that it cost us to participate in that program handcuffed us from doing other important projects that directly affected the health of our church. Our motives of not caring for poor and hungry children were questioned at that time.
- Churches do this all the time, however. A new church plant will seek support from other churches to help get them started. A church, like our own, may support that new ministry for one, two, or even three years. After that allotted amount of time, the support ends, and the funds are reallocated to other missions or ministry projects. It doesn’t mean the church doesn’t care about church planting anymore, but instead it means there are other projects and ministries that the church wants to be a part of. Or, there is a new focus they want to give their attention to.
LET’S BE REAL
As a former employee of the Salvation Army, it’s good to finally see some passion for the organization. I remember when the employees would work the Red Kettles, during the Christmas season. It was quite sad how many people would walk by the ringing bells and the red buckets, with no thought or intention of contributing their own money to the organization they are now so concerned about. Maybe this will inspire more participation?
- How much have you given to the Salvation Army over the past 5-7 years? A quarter here and there in the red buckets? A dollar or two, if added up?
- What has your personal contribution been to the success of the FCA? Feel free to Google the organization, I’ll wait here, until you get back.
- The reality is, even Christians, the one’s yelling the loudest in outrage against Chick-Fil-A, are some of the biggest hypocrites when it comes to giving and generosity.
- For those who come from a faith tradition that teaches and believes in tithing, only 10-25% of Christians (who claim to believe in it) actually tithe.
- Religious giving, among “Christians” is down 50% since 1990.
- On average, Christians give 2.5% of their income to their local church. Christians gave an average of 3.3% during the Great Depression (for comparison sake).
- Maybe we (Christians) should get our own hearts and charitable giving in line with scripture, before we tell a company what to do with theirs, or before we cast unfounded judgement on what has been one of the most charitable organizations and restaurants around.
It’s just like the people who want to tell the church how to spend money, but they never give any, or if they do, it’s less than the tip they leave a restaurant waiter, at a low-end diner. People love to yell when they don’t like what the church is doing, but they don’t participate in supporting the vision and the ministry. Now, someone creates a narrative about Chick-Fil-A, and suddenly everyone is the Salvation Army and FCA’s biggest fans. But, let’s be honest: Would your own personal giving and generosity towards those organizations reveal that you’re truly a fan, or are you just looking for something to be outraged about? Are you helping the opposition finally get their way with Chick-Fil-A?
Maybe, I’m wrong and you are right. I guess like many say with Kanye’s salvation, time will tell. I truly believe Kanye is saved and he’s showing it. In the same way, I truly believe many have bought into a false narrative about Chick-Fil-A and have tarnished the company’s character, with no facts. If they’re right, I’ll be the first to confess I was wrong. I wonder if all of the outraged former fans of Chick-Fil-A will do the same, if time proves them wrong?
Wayne Harris says
Good stuff, Pastor Nick. I agree wholeheartedly. I wish everyone who is complaining about Chik-Fil-A’s decision to change their charities would feel compelled to make up the difference by donating to Salvation Army and FCA. But they won’t. They don’t really care. They only care that their ‘Lord’s Chicken Company’ caved to the mob. Sad.
Art Rodriguez says
You demand respect but insult those who disagree with you. The Salvation Army is the best charity in the US. There’s no rationale to stop giving them aid other than that Chick-fil-A caved in.
Tom Goodwin says
Amen. Thank you for this reasoned response.

Well said Mr. Kenny Hanna. Me and mine still regard the Cathy family highly, and love your chicken. As a retired pastor, I understand budget priorities and the necessity sometimes of shifting resources to vision and need. Journey on sir….there will always be a few rush to judgement folks….if not now, then in time.
Keep truckin! People are still people and God is still good!

Amen!! Well said!
I honestly will pray for those touting all the “bad decisions made” Will prayerfully reconsider their quick judgement upon Chick Fil-A!!! Please take a good look at yourself and pray about the standard you are trying to convey upon this company!

America fell in love with the product before the controversy. Even those who were offended continued to patronize, consoling their consciences with snide commentary among their social circles. BUT, i believe the cultural controversy became an obstacle to international expansion. Other countries are not addicted to Chick-fil-A like we are just yet, so the quality of the product has not defeated their social ideals. Just my two cents…
Rob wacker says
They are not changing because of protests, they have realized the world has changed, and to survive in business you must adapt and that personal beliefs based on religion have no benefit for a corporation and not all freedom is equal in the eyes of the law. What chic fil la is experiencing ultimately is no different than what segregation went though..
Carl says
Good read but my objection with chicfila is what their president said, that they would be giving to faith based and non faith based organizations. That is the part where I think they are wrong. They are opening a door that will be hard to close. I have supported them because of the Christian stance they took and to me it does look like they caved. Time will tell. I do hope I am wrong.
nick says
Thank you for you comment, Art. I have not demanded respect, I said I still respect those I disagree with: “The good news is, I still respect those who I disagree with. Maybe they’ll return the favor!” How have I insulted you, or anyone else? I asked a lot of questions. I don’t see answers to those. I worked for the Salvation Army. They are a great organization. I do disagree with several things they have done. But, your opinion that they are the best charity in the US, is not proof that Chick-Fil-A caved. There are plenty of justifiable reasons to not renew a new contract with them, but that’s neither of our decisions to make.
Jerry says
The media just wants to sow discord and hatred.
Harry Pearce says
This is a most Excellent response!! Just what I’ve been saying.People are not listening to the Facts. Not listening to what Chick-fil-a is saying. You are absolutely correct : this is Satan & his minions further dividing not only our country, but the church of Jesus Christ!

Good facts! Sometimes we need our toes stepped on so that we are more aware of our hypocrisy! All of us are, to one degree or another. God bless your company! I certainly spend my share eating there!!
Erica says
@carl Chick-fil-A has always given to non-faith based organizations. Every time a local store donates sandwiches to a school PTO they are donating to a non-faith based group. Non-faith based groups don’t mean anti-Christian… this is where the problem lies! There has never been one policy written dictating that we can only give to faith based groups. Restaurants have always given to both.
Bob Stith says
There is a lot of snark directed at your brothers For someone who is attacks them for supposedly doing the same. And my disappointment is based on 2 verifiable facts. 1. The exact words of their COO. “They want give in the future to any “anti LGBT” groups. Who pray tell would that be? Any who hold to the biblical standard held by Christians and Jews for 3000 years.
And if you’re going to “focus on poverty who does more of that than the Salvation Army? (And yes, my wife and I never pass the Red Buckets that we don’t drop a few dollars in and also mail in a contribution.) As for the FCA, I started the chapter at my college and as a pastor provided a meeting place for our high school FCA. One of the guys I brought in helped start a chapter at the University of Alabama. So, yeah I have some credibility there. As for the Paul Anderson Youth home the early Cathy family helped found it. Sad that they would drop that. I had the privilege of meeting Psul Anderson at N FCA conference. He was a giant of a man both physically and spiritually. One of the groups CFA has chosen to replace them with is a youth organization that is strongly pro gay. So, before you castigate your brothers and sisters for not having all the facts maybe you should slow down and look a little deeper

Great response to the “outrageous” news. My feelings exactly as I eat the last of my 12 count nuggets….
Doug Lalli says
I’m a pastor myself and have sat through countless meetings where a change in budgetary spending was necessary to stay on the main focus of what we felt God has called our church to do. It’s never easy, but to really stay on task, it takes courageous decisions.
I have a bit of a feeling that this particular decision for Chick-fil-A wasn’t even on their radar as far as caving in or backing down or whatever. I’d guess that whoever is leading their charitable contributions program probably thought “we could be doing more by focusing on specific things.” I have to do that all the time!
Salvation Army/FCA good organizations? Of course. But they might not be what accomplishes God’s call for Chick-fil-A.
My very first thought when I saw the first “controversial” headline was: “oh brother, someone’s blown this was out of proportion.”
Yep and Yep again…
Keep those nuggets coming!!!

Thank you so much Nick for an excellent article! Thank you for taking the time to create this on behalf of an incredible and Christ-centered company. I appreciate you and them!
Hal says
Thanks. Good article and well written. However your first point under “facts that we know” is not correct when you state: “No one from Chick-Fil-A has said they are pulling support from groups that support traditional marriage, and/or are anti-LGBTQ+”
Of course Chic-fil-a will not release an “official” statement saying this is the reason they are pulling support from these organizations, but there are plenty of “off the record” statements from the Company’s Exec’s, reported from legitimate news sources, that absolutely do indicate this motivation.
I’m not condemning Chic-fil-a for their choice, but it is important to accurately present the facts so that all can make informed judgements on the matter.
Phyllis says
The first people to complain against what others do are the first to complain about their personal rights to do what they want. It’s Chick -Fil-A’s business. It’s their choice to do what they want to. If a group is bringing unwanted attention to them or interrupting their business, they have every right to refuse them service or be on their property. It’s Chick-Gil-A’s money to donate whom they want to. I’m sure they have their own system set & that’s their business !!!
nick says
Hal – I understand. Where are those statements? I can’t accurately share something that I don’t have. I have not seen any off the record comments given to reputable news sources. I have seen Chick-Fil-A (after this post) say they will support both secular and Christian organizations in the future which has been a long standing practice anyway, at least from a local level.
nick says
Hi Brenda. Yes, that is one of the reported charities that Chick-Fil-A announced they are supporting. However, the Salvation Army has done similar. However, theirs is required by state and local city laws and ordinances because they have opted to take public funds for their shelter system. As a result, the Salvation Army also cannot require shelter residents to go to a Bible study or any Christian related program, as many local, Christian and church run shelters can do. These are some of the internal processes and operations within the Salvation Army that people don’t know about. I still support them and think they do a great job! Their drug and alcohol programs do not receive any public funds and cannot unashamedly share the gospel, but that’s not true throughout the organization.
nick says
Hi Dee. What holes? Please share. I have nothing to gain from Chick-Fil-A and have no need to damage control for them. If you want to be outraged, feel free. I hope that spurs you on to support the Salvation Army and the FCA.
zach says
Nick, this is the best article I’ve seen on this subject, thank you for not taking sides, but looking for the truth and trying to expose it. Alot of great points here that dive deeper into our (the peoples) thoughts and lifestyles and call out ways where we are hypocritical and quick to judge. Thank you
nick says
Bob — I appreciate your feedback and comments. My snark is directed at the jump to outrage and the hypocrisy of the masses. As well as the hypocrisy in the immediacy of buying a headline when that is discouraged in other arenas. I appreciate your contributions to these ministries and organizations, however you are rare, and are not the majority.
Who claims to be “Anti-LGBTQ+” Even those who disagree with the lifestyle and same sex marriage would not say they are “Anti-LGBTQ+” That’s when you’ve given your enemy a loaded weapon. The Salvation Army doesn’t claim to be Anti-LGBTQ+, Chick-Fil-A has all along said they are not Anti-LGBTQ+, so I see no changes in their policies. The Salvation Army is a church, but they have themselves decided to receive public funding which has forced them to bow at the governments requirements in hiring and inclusion of the LGBTQ+ community. They hire LGBTQ+ individuals and provide healthcare to their spouses. Their church has a doctrine of traditional marriage, but they don’t stand on that doctrine in their social services wing. I don’t see anyone speaking out against that? Why did the Salvation Army start receiving public funds? Money. Maybe it was because there wasn’t enough people putting money in the red kettles, or they just needed more to meet the needs, or they just wanted more for their own vision as an organization. How many people know that? I don’t see outrage that the Salvation Army has caved, though. I replied to a comment above when it comes to the Covenant House. The Salvation Army, under government requirements, have done some of the same assessments to ensure they are providing inclusive care to the LGBTQ+ community. They don’t advertise it, but they are required to by law. This is why, in my blog post, I said they were finding space to provide safe sheltering for transgender individuals. They didn’t opt to do that, they were made to do that. I believe FCA is a great organization, but Chick-Fil-A has not always supported them, so why are they required to now? I have never heard FCA was “Anti-LGBTQ+” until this week.
Becky says
Yes. Thank you. Well said. Let’s stop dropping bombs on our own side of the battle.
Dwain says
They caved, plain and simple. This is (maybe I should say, WAS?) an organization based on Christian principles and faith. We (the Christian, dining public) came to their defense and supported them (dramatically!) back in 2012 when they first came under fire. We are the reason their sales grew so incredibly. Unlike most other fast food chains, CFA touted their Christian heritage, asking us for that support. Once they took that stand, we took to them, trusting that they would stand their ground. Unfortunately, and sadly, not the case. They are not-so-slowly abandoning (by actions) that claim and their base.
Now, a few short years later, CFA is shunning the very principles they seemed to hold dear and now they give in to the very same pressures so they can open a few more stores (seemed like they were doing quite well with our support?) in cities that want to tell them how and who they must align with (and more importantly, who they CAN’T support) in areas outside their “home base” in the southeast.
Shame on the board, and the powers that be, that made this very poor decision. This alone tells you where CFA is heading. This was just another of the “LB…whatever’s” traps and CFA seems to have happily jumped right into it. My family will continue to serve the Lord (with gladness!) and we will not cave in on biblical principles and scriptural facts. Apparently CFA would rather make a few more dollars. Shameful. They’ll have to make those dollars somewhere besides our family in the future.
Donna says
I normally do not comment on these issues, but I felt I needed to.
I think about what if people had stood up against legalizing alcohol…. can you imagine the lives that would have been saved and the families that would not have been destroyed. Now drinking is just a way of life.
What if people had stood up against obortions…. look at the lives that would have been saved.
I love all people and I pray daily for our world. The Cathy family have been to our church and stood up and they spoke a lot about their convictions of things not honored by God.
All sin is sin and has to be repented of and you are to turn from it.
I do not believe the Bible teaches love from being tolerant. We can pat ourselves on the back and say I am a better person For being tolerant. But we are called to speak Gods truth into their lives and help them in their journey. It could be any sin if we love them we will show Christ to them.
Not so sure the deceased founder of CFA would have handled this situation the same way!
Nancy says
I shall try to be objective here in my comments…All human beings eat food…whether they are LBGT or not.. and .Does not matter the race …all humans eat food..To be in a Food business you should not discriminate when serving the Public….I know that Chic Fil A felt a pressure from agitators.,And of course the Global situation in England which put pressure on them with that 6 month contract…. All being said for the company to survive and progress in the future ..thy probably knew they had to make this decision…After Mr. Truitt and Janette Cathy passed in the last few years ……….All of us wondered how long it would take for those Changes within the Company……..However Christans should realize ..that all humans consume food products and it should not hider our faith or respect for a company to present themselves as being kind to all………………..HARD LINE decisions can be tough to make….Yes they did cave…we all know that ..but maybe that was the correct action to take…….Only time will tell…..

What are the charities Chick-fil A is supporting,? Do some support LGBT agendas, if so
That money will support their goal to brainwash our young people , the LGBT also

We can make an informed decision about this company.

Good job, Nick.
As for the ignorant few with the closed minds (side question: is a closed mind better than none at all?), I wish your absence would shorten the line at my favorite CFAs. But the reality is: CFA is going to keep printing money, and giving more of it for Kingdom work than you will ever dream of giving. Peace.

Regarding your Chic fil a article:
I read with much interest your defense of the beloved Chic fil a company regarding their pulling contributions to key Christian organizations. It is well researched and written, and almost sounds as if it was written by a Chic fil a Board Member. Every point you make in your article has merit. I respectfully submit, however, that your narrative has allowed no room at all for those of us who actually tried multiple times to reach Chic fil a by phone and got only a recorded message which said in part that the company is restructuring their Foundation’s contributions to include a three prong strategy directed toward, and benefiting, children.
To my mind, the recorded message, which preceded the company’s standard recorded message, was an attempt to block concerned “fans” from getting through to a person, anybody, who could address concerns in first person. In so doing, they, perhaps unwittingly, appeared to be insulating themselves from their presumed, ”complaining” public.
Now, consider this: in today’s climate of news reporting; the LGBTQ’s agenda to bring pressure to bear on all Christian organizations, and individuals who do not support their agenda; and the barrage of negativity at every turn, one should understand how disappointing the “news” of this decision by Chic fil a would “feel” as though one of the last holdouts to consistently stand for clear Biblical TRUTH had allowed the LGBTQ to check off yet another stronghold. So, with that said, I think your characterization of concerned fans being uninformed and therefore jumping to conclusions, is an assumption on your part.
Perhaps in hindsight Chic fil a might have made their three prong strategy the only subject of their announcement on future contributions rather than reporting on which organizations they would no longer support.

In my post I said Chick fil A is not a discriminatory business our local CFA has I know at least 2 gay employees, that bothers me not in the least – as Christians how can we be a witness without demonstrating the Love of Christ as in my post – prayers for CFA . Nothings wrong with writing support of the Christian organizations they publicly left out ( didn’t have to list ) but they did and that makes it look worse – I believe in Gods Grace and Mercy , God knows I need it everyday -My letters to CFA were written in love my post included request for prayer – there is so much liberal bias and pressure – just concern – I have personally went and heard Mr Cathy speak gave a donation bought 2 books one to keep and one to lend! We are givers not to let the right hand know …. our boast is only in Christ .Mr Cary is a Christian I believe by his fruit – I don’t jump on band wagons, but pray fully write to the best of my beliefs – as I said about Kanye give Grace and prayers – and prayers for CFA

Dwain — Everything you are saying here is what I wrote my post about. It is full of judgements against their motives versus facts. It is full of assumptions versus reality. Chick-Fil-A was doing just fine before the boycotts started and people showed their support in an appreciation day. I appreciate everything Chick-Fil-A does for ministries and in the local community, secular and Christian, like the close to $20,000 they invested locally in my area for Walk for Water, where we raised almost $100,000 to provide clean, safe drinking water to people around the world which serves as a bridge to the gospel being shared by local missionaries. Although they do all that good, somethings you don’t even see in the public, I don’t just eat there because of it. I am sorry they let you down, according to your own standards.
Shawn says
The writer of this article actually is playing on emotions and hypotheticals and “broad brushing” people on Facebook, Christians, etc. too much. Also his first point makes little sense if you understand big organizations and how slow culture and decisions change over time. Of course they didn’t cave immediately.. these things take time to make financial decisions and policy decisions long-term. culture changes slowly over time with new people ideas and conversations at the VP level and above at Chick-fil-A. Most people aren’t mad just disappointed and that’s OK. Chick-fil-A is still a much better company than most.
nick says
Shawn — I appreciate your opinion, but have also received several emails from Chick-Fil-A operator’s and families members of operators, thanking me for my post because they have received hateful and unkind messages. Regardless of how you feel about the corporate decisions, the local operators do not deserve what they are receiving. Ask them, if people are just disappointed rather than mad. Ask the people saying they will never eat at Chick-Fil-A again, if they are disappointed rather than mad. I am not broad brushing anyone, I am writing from the comments and posts I am seeing and from my own personal experiences. I hope the one’s you are seeing are much more charitable.

The website below is the organization Chick-fil-A has decided to partner with to fight homelessness instead of the Salvation Army.
covenanthouse.org/homeless-issues-/lgbtq-homeless-youth
Covenant House partners with truecolorsunited.org
The FRC article states: “Chick-fil-A didn’t just switch their giving practices, they broadcasted it. They made a conscious choice to draw attention to this very public divorce from two Bible-believing charities. And then, in a calculated move, announced their support was going to an organization that, on it’s website, openly supports everything about the LGBT community.

With all due respect, support CFA or not. Yes they can donate to whomever they want. But don’t take a Biblical stance on values and then cave in when the pressure is on to stick to those values. We are called to love the sinner (I am a sinner!) not affirm the sin.
