In the next two posts I am going to list 10 Reasons You Won’t Fit at New Passion Church. Here are the first 5 and tomorrow I will post the second list of 5: NOTE: These are written to Christ Followers who claim Christ has transformed their lives, not people outside the faith. I don’t expect non-believers to act like Christians:
1. You’re Comfortable Being Apathetic – After all the name of the Church is New Passion. We desire to be a community of faith made up of people who are passionate for Jesus and for others. Passion is what moves us. If we are not passionate, we are most likely standing still, and that’s not the kind of environment we envision for New Passion. If you want to break out of your apathy and get in on what God is doing in Grovetown through NPC, we can help! If you are comfortable in your apathy, please do yourself a favor and don’t torture yourself at this church!
2. You Don’t Have a Heart for People – Jesus told everyone of his followers to love others as we love ourselves. Grovetown is full of people needing hope and seeking true life. If you’re not about jumping into ditches to pull people out, then New Passion is not for you!
3. You Think the Church Should Be Small – This is typically an excuse used by the people who fit in category #2 above. Churches that are comfortable with their crowd and who have no heart to reach out to the people in the community usually settle with this kind of mentality. Jesus went about doing good, preaching the Gospel, and through his efforts massive crowds sought him out. In Acts, the Apostles went around doing good, preaching the Gospel, and massive crowds were saved and their lives changed. If you want to be a part of a small church, that is your business, but New Passion is not for you, we will start small in some people’s eyes, but our vision is to reach the masses.
4. You’re #1 – One of the biggest problems in the church are the “Christians” who think the church revolves around them. The greatest person at New Passion is not one single person, its not the person with the most money, or the greatest influence, its Jesus Christ. We intend to challenge and encourage people to serve those who attend New Passion, but also those who are in the community. If you are too busy to serve or too important to sacrifice to see lives changed, New Passion is not for you. We are a place where people can meet Jesus, and sometimes that starts with a handshake at the front door.
5. You’re Stuck in the Last 50 Years – Change for the sake of change is bad. Change to be more effective in reaching people is vital. One of the reasons Jesus was hated by the Pharisees was because he brought change to their customs and empty rituals, he rebelled against the rules. If you believe the church should still operate in the same manner it did 50 years ago, New Passion is not for you. The message of the Bible will always stay the same at NPC, but the method the message is delivered in has to be adjusted to reach a generation that has been missed by churches who refuse to get out of their empty rituals. We will be intentional about adapting our methods to culture while delivering a transcending message.
New Passion Church is all about reaching people who are outside of Christianity. If you are not at that place, we desire to help get you there, but if you have no desire to reach those outside the faith with the Gospel, New Passion is most likely not for you. If, you were not scared off, come back tomorrow for the last 5 Reasons You Won’t May Not Fit at New Passion, I very well may lose you there. 🙂
