I don’t know if it started with the microwave, but it sure didn’t help! There used to be a time where time was not so fast. You could not expect to receive an overnight package, or to pop your popcorn in a matter of a few minutes, but now we have trained ourselves to be impatient people.
As impatient people we expect others to perform to our timing and we expect God to perform on our timing, but our timing is only a concept of our own selfish and rushed ambition.
Lazy leaders that push off the tough jobs on those that they lead are no longer satisfied with the job being complete, instead they have to have the job completed now, and they expect you to drop your own personal responsibilities to do it. We see a need in our life and we expect God to be like the microwave and cook up our blessing within a matter of seconds and at the latest minutes. Down with the microwave!!!
When Jesus was summoned at different times to perform miracles or to heal a sick person on their death bed, in many cases he took his time. In fact when he went to Lazarus it took him like 4 days to get there and Lazarus was dead, all of the people thought it was all over. John 11:35 says that Jesus wept, and I think it was because of the unbelief of the people that Jesus could perform a miracle!
How many times do we say we believe God has led us to do something or told us to do something, but because we do not see “OUR” desired results in “OUR” timing we decide that God is now leading us in a different direction or after the fact is revealed that there is a struggle in anything that God leads us to do and we do not see the results we desire we decide that God only led us to do that specific thing for a month or two? In reality God may have led you and I or us, but we demand microwaved results and we never accomplish anything for God!
I need to unplug my microwave for a little while and change my way of thinking, what about you?
